Before joining Microsoft in 2002, Gareth led a large team in the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK working with clinicians and IT teams to drive transformation through technology. At Microsoft, Gareth has had a number of roles including leading technical sales to the NHS and launching some large infrastructure products which resulted in him moving to Seattle in 2010. Today Gareth is the Chief of Staff for Microsoft’s global healthcare team. He is passionate about using technology to make a difference to peoples’ lives, especially in healthcare, and helps Microsoft to apply its resources to the industry. Outside of work, he is married to Roo and has two children (Hannah 15 and Theo 12) who were delightful before they became teenagers, and he enjoys sliding down a snowy hill on a plank of wood whenever he can. Gareth currently lives just outside Seattle with his family.
