About Café Momentum Atlanta

Café Momentum is a nonprofit restaurant and professional training facility in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. We offer a 12-month paid internship for justice-involved youth, providing them with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of the restaurant industry. Throughout the program, our interns receive support from a dedicated case management team that focuses on social and life skills development. Café Momentum's mission is to transform young lives by equipping our community’s justice-involved youth with life skills, education and employment opportunities to help them achieve their full potential.

Café Momentum Atlanta is seeking a Marketing and Special Events Coordinator who is passionate about storytelling with a digital-first mindset. This role is perfect for a creative thinker and doer who thrives on bringing stories and events to life through captivating content and is eager to elevate Café Momentum’s mission of empowering justice-impacted youth. 

The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, where they can manage event logistics, create engaging marketing content, and build a strong online and in-person community around Café Momentum Atlanta’s mission, with a primary focus on social media content and engagement.

The Marketing and Special Events Coordinator is a key member of the marketing team, reporting to the Director of Development. Responsibilities include //

Marketing & Social Media:

  • Develop and manage comprehensive marketing campaigns, including email newsletters, event promotions, donor outreach, and digital content across the website and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).

  • Plan and execute marketing strategies for events, including digital campaigns, promotional materials, and community outreach, while also designing and managing print and digital collateral.

  • Oversee day-to-day social media operations, including content creation, publishing, community engagement, and applying best practices for optimal reach and interaction.

  • Collaborate with PR and development teams on writing press releases, coordinating media outreach, and supporting editorial and fundraising campaigns.

  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics using tools like Hootsuite and Google Analytics to assess campaign success, identify growth opportunities, and enhance content strategies.

  • Maintain and update digital content, including the Atlanta landing page on the Café Momentum website, and provide administrative support to the marketing and development teams.

Event Planning & Execution

  • Plan and execute a wide range of events, including fundraising galas, community engagement events, private dining experiences, and corporate partnerships.

  • Manage all event logistics, including vendor contracts, venue booking, catering, audiovisual setup, decor, and transportation.

  • Oversee guest list management, invitations, registration processes, and on-site event coordination, ensuring seamless execution.

  • Collaborate with volunteers and event staff to ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and executed.

  • Plan and execute marketing strategies for events, including digital campaigns, promotional materials, and community outreach initiatives.

Key Attributes, Experience, Knowledge & Skills //

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, event planning, marketing and or social media.

  • Strong experience with video and photo editing, particularly on social platforms.

  • Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace, Adobe Premiere, Canva, and Hootsuite

  • Expertise in event logistics, budget management, and working with vendors.

  • Understanding of brand strategy and community engagement in a mission-driven organization.

  • Proven track record in social media content creation and distribution.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing innovative marketing ideas.

  • Strong decision-making skills, especially under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, taking initiative and ownership of tasks.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to see projects through to completion.

  • Strong decision-making skills, particularly under pressure, and the ability to take initiative and work independently. 

  • Lifelong learner with a sense of humor, adaptability and a problem-solving mindset.

Working Environment //

This is a full-time position. On-site work may be conducted in detention facilities, restaurant environments, outdoor environments, in the community (homes, business, etc.), in street environments and with system-involved individuals. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, document projectors, filing cabinets and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Café Momentum Atlanta provides a workplace free from recognized hazards and complies with standards, rules and regulations issued under the OSH Act. 

Salary & Benefits //

Salary range is $50,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include:
