Sandy D. Welfare // National Managing Director of Development
Sandy D. Welfare is the National Managing Director of Development for Momentum Advisory Collective. In this role, Sandy will create sustainable and diverse funding to transform young lives by equipping our community’s most at-risk youth with life skills, education and employment opportunities to help them achieve their full potential.
Sandy’s career began in 1989 in Greenwich, Connecticut, where she joined Rand Insurance as the operations controller. Six years later, she accepted a position with Lucent Technologies, an international telecommunications leader. She held several positions, including accounting and treasury manager in Singapore (1999-2000) and senior operations manager in Australia and New Zealand (2000-2002). Sandy returned to Atlanta in 2002 as senior manager of global financial services.
In 2003, Sandy accepted a position as director of operations for Xchanging, a business processing outsourcing company. In 2006, her career took her to London, England, as managing director for professional services, where she managed global business processing services for bank financial transactions, insurance, and retail.
Upon returning from London in 2008, Sandy transitioned from Board Chair to the executive director of Cool Girls Inc, an award-winning early intervention after-school program dedicated to the empowerment of girls. After five years with Cool Girls, Sandy joined Women In Technology (WIT) as the executive director and led WIT’s mission of empowering Georgia’s women and girls to excel in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math). In her prior role, Sandy was the Director of WestRock’s Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (ePMO), leading the IT Solution Delivery team. In 2023, she took on the role of Chief Development Officer of Women Who Code to raise the funds needed to support this global non-profit’s mission of empowering women to excel in technology careers.
Sandy’s community leadership roles include MENTOR Georgia Board Advisor, President of the Kiwanis Club of Atlanta, Cool Girls Inc (past Executive Director and Board Chair), Westside Beacon Advisory Team Member, Wheeler Academic Booster Club, Boy Scouts of America Leadership Council Member Troop 713, Spelman LEADS mentor, and Women Mentor Atlanta.
Sandy received her undergraduate degree from St. John’s University in New York and a Master of Business Administration from Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. Sandy resides in Marietta, Georgia, with her husband, Cliff, and son Soloman.
